As a part of this Sunday's worship service we have the opportunity to commission a new church in East Grand Rapids, led by Adam & Ruth Anderson. Adam has been a pastoral resident at Calvary Church for the past three years training for this opportunity. New Heart will begin meeting weekly at Derby Station next Sunday. Please pray for Adam, Ruth and their core team as they faithfully follow God’s leading to bring God’s hope to the East Grand Rapids community.
Frequently Asked Questions About New Heart
What’s happening and how can I help?
A group of Christ-followers have prayerfully felt compelled to take part in planting New Heart church in East Grand Rapids. Calvary has prayed, affirmed and is supporting this effort. Please pray that our needs are met, the Holy Spirit has His way and that the city would prosper with bringing glory to Jesus.
When and where is all this taking place?
On September 30, Calvary is commissioning the core group of New Heart to plant a church in East Grand Rapids. New Heart’s first service will be at Derby Station (2237 Wealthy St SE #130) at 10:00am on October 7.
Can I go?
Anyone is welcome. If you are considering being part of New Heart, pray and ask for God’s guidance and then act in obedience. If God is drawing you to New Heart, we would love for you to be part of our community.
Isn’t East Grand Rapids already a fairly churched community?
While there are many churches in West Michigan, there are still thousands of people who don’t know the love of Jesus. We believe New Heart will reach some that would otherwise not be reached. We also believe being a part of this plant will provide unique opportunities to deepen the faith of believers.
I have children. What does New Heart offer?
It is our desire that our children participate in the worship service, so every service is a family service. We have resources available to engage your child, but New Heart does not currently have children’s classes.
Throughout the week New Heart leverages programming for elementary, middle school, high school students provided by partner churches and organizations.
Are there small groups?
New Heart is a small group! But yes, we meet during the week as well. There are a few options throughout the week for newly forming Bible and book studies. Please come talk to us and we can help you find a group that suits your needs.
How can I pray?
- That the city would receive us
- Non-believers would turn to belief
- Believers would grow and mature
