An opportunity to learn
Coming up next week are several opportunities locally to learn about medical missions – for both medical/dental professionals as well as students and those with a more general interest.
- Thursday, May 14, the Grand Rapids Christian Medical society is hosting David Stevens, the CEO of the international Christian Medical Dental Association. He will be speaking on “The Right of Conscience” at a free event with dinner included. Please contact Marilyn Hondorp for details or to RSVP.
- Friday, May 15, there will be a showing of the documentary “We are the Ones” featuring the work of Dr. Glenn Geelhoed, who wrote Mission to Heal and Gifts for the Poor. Pendragwn Productions made this film partially at Memorial Christian Hospital in Werkok, South Sudan, the hospital of Partners in Compassionate Care, a ministry developed by a member of Calvary Church. The film will be shown at Celebration! Woodland at 7:00 PM with a discussion with Dr. Geelhoed afterward; tickets can be purchased in advance here.
- To cap off the time, on Saturday, May 16, there is a medical missions symposium where physicians and dentists can get CME credit for attending. To view the program and register, see their flyer.
