From February 18 to March 29, our community will take part in 40 Days for Life … a groundbreaking, coordinated international mobilization. We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and beyond. The international movement includes a focus on fasting and prayer as well as community outreach through churches and events. But the visible, public centerpiece of 40 Days for Life is a 40-day round-the-clock prayer vigil outside the abortion facility in each community.
It is a peaceful and educational presence. Those who are called to stand witness during this 24-hour-a-day presence send a powerful message to the community about the tragic reality of abortion. It also serves as a call to repentance for those who work at the abortion center and those who patronize the facility. The goal is not to confront anyone but simply to lift up the lives of mothers and babies alike before the throne of God.
The Spring 40 Days for Life campaign coincides with Lent and is already underway. Calvary Church people will be helping to staff the round-the-clock prayer effort. If you are interested in being part of this, or just learning more and praying from your home, you can contact Yvonne Bodell at .
