2025, Kentucky, Short Term Missions:

2025 Kentucky: 09/29/25 – Day 2

Today was our first full day of work here in David, Kentucky, and God gave us plenty of opportunities to serve! We arrived expecting to work on two homes but learned that we’ll actually be working on three. The plan was to finish one house completely today (Joe & Pam’s), allowing that team to move on to Dennis’ home next.

House 1 – Joe & Pam’s Home
The goal here was to finish the work in just one day: laying a new linoleum sheet in the bathroom and completing drywall repairs in the bedroom and bathroom (mudding, sanding, priming, and painting). However, a delay in receiving the right materials until after lunch slowed our timeline. With each step requiring drying time, it became clear we’ll need to return tomorrow to finish the job.

Before arriving, we were told this couple could be difficult to work with due to past challenges with the mission and previous volunteer crews. Our team prayed over the situation, asking God to prepare the way. We truly felt those prayers were answered—conversations flowed easily, and the Spirit guided our interactions. By the end of the day, what could have been a tense situation instead became a meaningful connection, and a strong relationship began to take root.

House 2 – Carolyn’s Home
This house has three major projects:

  1. Renovating two bathrooms—one with replacing tub and surround, and the other replacing the vanity, toilet, and flooring.

  2. Repairing multiple holes in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom floors.

  3. Addressing mold and rot issues, especially in the bathrooms.

Progress was slowed as we discovered additional leaks with the hot water heater and a cracked shower stall. Despite these setbacks, the team pressed forward, making good headway on repairs. The kitchen flooring was started and is nearly complete.

Though the day brought its share of challenges, our crew is encouraged. We’re reminded that service isn’t about speed, but about faithfulness and care. We’re thankful for steady progress, safe work, and the chance to be God’s hands and feet here in this community.

Please continue to keep us and the families we’re serving in your prayers—we’re excited to see what tomorrow brings, including the opportunity to begin work at Dennis’ home!
