2025, Kentucky, Short Term Missions:

2025 Kentucky: 09/30/25 – Day 3

Our second work day in David, Kentucky, was full of both challenges and blessings as we continued serving two families and wrapped up an important milestone.

House 1 – Joe & Pam’s Home
Today one team finished Joe and Pam’s house! In the back bedroom and master bath, the walls were patched, sanded, primed, painted, and trimmed/caulked. The hallway also received a fresh coat of paint, bringing new life and warmth to their home.

The day wasn’t without setbacks, however. The team loaded a trailer full of garbage left behind by previous work crews and drove it to the dump, only to discover it was temporarily closed. The delay was disappointing and cost us valuable work time. Yet even with this hurdle, the crew completed the house by day’s end. More importantly, deeper connections were built with Joe and Pam. We realized once again that sometimes the most meaningful work isn’t measured by paint or flooring, but by the relationships formed and the love shared with our “neighbor”.

With this house now complete, the team is ready to move on to Dennis’ home, where considerable work is needed in the bathroom.

House 2 – Carolyn’s Home
Meanwhile, progress continued at Carolyn’s home. Flooring was installed in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom, with only the reapplication of the original floor covering left to finish on the flooring project. In the bathroom, the old shower was removed, a wall was knocked out, and mold inside was treated to begin remediation.

Work still to be done includes installing a new water heater, shower, toilet, and vanity. Outside, repairs to the stairs are needed, as well as adjustments to increase their height to reach the dumpster area.

Though the day brought challenges, it also brought victories—both in the visible progress on the homes and in the relationships being built. We are grateful for God’s faithfulness and for the prayers that continue to carry us forward. Tomorrow promises more hard work, and we look forward to what He has in store.
