The Calvary Art Committee would like to invite artists who call Calvary their church home to create a text based piece of artwork from the current or previous benedictions we’ve gone through as a congregation on Sunday mornings. We intend to have these on permanent display in the church as a reminder of what God has brought us through as a Church.
If you are interested in participating, reach out to info@calvarygr.org and put “Art Committee – Benedictions” in the subject line. We ask that you include what passage you’re interested in depicting and a brief reason why you’d like the specific passage if applicable, or if you’re just interested in doing one of the passages but don’t have a preference of which one.
Once we receive your request, the Art Committee will reach out to confirm that the passage is still available and to request a visual representation or sketch of how you’d like to depict the passage. We are looking for this artwork to be text based as the main focus so the verses can be read and on display in an artistic way. At this time, we ask that each artist only do one final piece since we would like to have a range of styles and completed works by our congregants. There will be a Spring exhibit of the works and then they will become a part of the permanent collection. The deadline to be a part of the Spring exhibit is January 14.
Here are the benedictions/passages available from recent sermon series:
| Exodus: I am Here – Exodus 34:6-7 |
| John A Beautiful Life: John 20:30-31 |

Purpose – The purpose of the Art Committee is to promote the visual arts as a tool to support worship and teaching at Calvary Church. We also want to encourage the engagement of visual art that complements our faith, with members of the church and surrounding community.
Mission – The Art Committee seeks to support God’s work here at Calvary Church with the management of its permanent art collection and by sponsoring temporary displays of visual art in the church. Through the support of the church’s Statement of Vision and these tasks, the committee will help to create and maintain an aesthetic environment that will enhance the spiritual and community activities that take place in our facility.
