Church Ministry Update for the Week of August 3

On August 2, Calvary Church Leadership announced to the congregation the return of positive COVID-19 test results for Pastor Jim Samra. Out of an abundance of caution, we are taking a number of steps across the church to limit interaction between staff and congregants through August 16. These changes are beneficial because of Jim’s interactions with staff and many in the congregation throughout the past two weeks. During this timeframe: All staff will be working remotely Ministry to those birth through young adults and to senior adults will be conducted virtually Meetings with non-staff will not take place on-site At this time, we are also prayerfully considering any modifications that need to be made to our on-site gathering for worship on August 9 and 16. We will be certain to inform the congregation of any adjustments taking place, in light of recent events. Our aim is to continue offering essential…

Calvary’s Director of Communications, Jackie Rice, is here to share a closing word and how God led us to this decision. We hope this encouragement to not just be listeners of God’s Word, but doers as well, will motivate you on your next steps in this season. A Word for Today | May 28

In these unusual times, there is heightened pressure to choose a stance on social issues, global health decisions, and politics. This division creates pain as well as renders the church ineffective. In the Word for Today, Pastor Tom shares from Joshua 5:13-14 and the truth that the only side we need to be concerned about being on is God’s side. May the Lord reveal areas of pride in our hearts today so that we may repent and redirect our words and actions to emulate His values. You can view previous A Word for Today videos on YouTube. In this Word for Today, Susan Sorensen reflects on how six years ago, God used Calvary’s building project to be the catalyst for sharing the gospel with our community. Through the partnership with NBS2go and the creation of neighborhood Bible studies, God has done far more than she could have imagined. May you be encouraged that we serve the same God today who in this new season is actively saving, revealing, and proclaiming. To learn more about the materials that Susan Sorensen references, visit NBS2go.com. Their Trusting God study and LIGHT study are a great place to begin. Perhaps this is your new season where God is calling you to reach out to your family, friends, or neighbors who are thirsty for the Gospel. You can view previous A Word for Today videos on YouTube.
