Today felt particularly special – our team was deep cleaning a quadroplex, and while it was nice to finally work indoors, it was also so incredible to see so many high school students serving joyfully as unto the Lord. The message of Philippians 2;17 was so well presented by our team. “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.” – Even while mopping and scrubbing sinks, we chose to sing, laugh, and rejoice in our labor. In the evening, after a wonderful dinner, we had a blessed devotional led by David about placing trust in God that is displayed by obedience by God’s call for us to serve. Afterwards we had a time of worship, as well as encouraging “shoutouts” to each other and talking about how we’d seen God work, which was yet another reminder of the amazing group of students on this trip. I continually thank the Lord for all He’s been moving in all of us, and how He has used us as a vessel for His goodness for the people of Detroit.

Today my group was in downtown Detroit, at Mrs. Kendra’s house. Seeing the house at first was daunting, but the Lord worked through it and made a real blessing to Mrs. Kendra and all her children. This house’s yard was very overgrown and had lots of trash in it. This was a dreary task, but we witnessed a bible verse come true, being Matthew 17:20. What truly seemed like an impossible task was made easy through the holy spirit in us. The people he sent along the way were a huge blessing and helped the original people a lot. God provided in a miraculous way today and I was really thankful.
