40 Days of Prayer & Fasting
September 8 - October 17
As we look at the circumstances of life in 2020 – a global virus, division, rebellion and civil unrest – we see symptoms of the sin that entangles humanity. And when we look at the Old Testament we see how God calls us to respond in such times of widespread calamity and judgment.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14 says, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
These words are an invitation from the Lord, and as the elders of Calvary Church, we want to call each of us to accept this invitation. Beginning September 8, we ask you to commit to 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. 40 days of intentionally humbling ourselves, praying and seeking the Lord. We believe this season is an opportunity for our congregation to experience repentance and restoration. To admit what is no longer serving us and to seek the Lord’s ways instead of our own.
These uncertain times are a foretaste of the future. The Lord has called us to action. This is an opportunity to ask what He is doing and to participate in His plan for our days. Visit calvarygr.org/40days for full details on how you can participate.
