2018, Houston, Short Term Missions:

Houston 2018 – A Day for Relationships

Today was a unique day. It was very relational for most of us. We spent a lot of time with a few people. We got invited into a few houses and were served food and drink.

In the morning we did a training session with the missionaries on another method of sharing the gospel. Then we went back to the apartments we were in the day before. We went to new apartments for the last hour of our day.

Highlights:

  • This morning we had the privilege of going door to door with Kris Shepard (the missionary). This was very encouraging. She had the opportunity to share the gospel as well. One specific woman would like to meet again and study the Injil (New Testament) with her!
  • A couple of us spent 3 hours with an Afghan family. We had great discussion about the gospel and the meaning of certain Quranic and Bible verses. Although we did not see the Holy Spirit working in him yet, he is a man who believes in dreams. After asking Allah for confirmation of Islam, he received a dream where Muhammad gave him a pure white coffin. At first he was frightened, but the dream interpreter told him not to be afraid. It merely meant a big change would happen. Soon after he had to flee to America. He sees this as a sign from Allah. But we are praying that Jesus will visit him and show him the real meaning of his first dream. Please pray with us for this man.

Prayer Requests:

  • The man with the dream (see above).
  • Kirsten has been fighting dizziness and she feels like it is spiritual warfare.
  • The woman, W*, who wants to study the Injil with Kris.
  • The many other people who heard the gospel today. Pray that they would ponder Jesus.
