2018, France, Short Term Missions:

Joy Felt at First Day of the Festival

Bonjour! We started our day with worship and prayer at the park with our team and other friends who arrived to help with the festival. Many hands made light work as we set up tents and equipment, and prepared games and activities for kids. We were excited as many children and families came to share the afternoon together having a great time. A journalist came to interview for his newspaper. He expressed how the festival was a unique, special community event. He said he had never seen a church provide anything like it in the past. The goal is to be God’s bearers of joy and peace–that joy was felt today at the festival.

A note from Gwen: At the festival I had a good time painting nails. I saw kids having fun and laughing and being silly. I just loved watching them play and have fun. It was fun to play group games with the neighborhood kids too.

It has been great to meet other workers serving there in France, seeing their unity of purpose. Two of the couples have prepared meals for us so far, so we feel welcomed and cared for.

Prayer needs for tomorrow:

  • Rest after a busy day today
  • Hotter weather
  • That we would be able to work out a few kinks to make the activities go more smoothly
  • For the same success in engaging the community, despite fewer French-speaking volunteers

Thanks for lifting up our team in prayer!
