Calvary Church has partnered with the Greek Evangelical Church in Glyfada, a suburb of Athens, to encourage and support the congregants and staff there. In our time in Greece, our team will be focused on several projects, including:
- Participation in church life through Sunday message and worship, as well as Wednesday night Bible classes.
- A Vacation Bible School, focused on gifts and talents that God has given us.
- Discipleship for refugees, including opportunities to practice conversational English through games and activities, and a one-day event for refugee children.
- A women’s encouragement event, with an opportunity to teach and have fellowship with the women of the church.
- Work with the church’s program for young entrepreneurs, called Bluprint, to train potential business men and women through mentoring, networking, and consulting.
- Provide childcare for a date-night for young couples in the church to encourage spiritual growth together.
- Physical work on the church’s home for refugees, called Voula House.
On this trip, our team will be focusing on 1 Thessalonians 3:2, “to strengthen and encourage you in your faith”. Our prayer is that we will be well equipped and ready to serve and shepherd the church and people of Glyfada so that they will continue to carry out God’s will for them in bold steps of faith.
