2019, Lesvos, Short Term Missions:

Lesvos, August 2019– Wednesday at the center

This morning we had a quick and simple breakfast before heading over to the Centre for Women and Children. We sang a new song and prayed before the center opened— one of the workers led us in worship as her husband played the guitar. We got our assignments for the day and opened the doors!

The daughters were in charge of leading the morning stretches. Some of the older women joined in, but most hung back to watch (and chuckle at our moves) as we danced to many fun songs with their children. During the workout we had a variety of dancing— line dancing, Iranian music, the Cha Cha Slide, the chicken dance, and a conga line!

We colored and played with play-doh as well as helped the women use spa masks. While the older women got hand massages and let their masks sit, the younger girls jumped rope— they are all amazing at it! We also made more sock puppets with everyone after the shop had opened.

After the center had closed for the day, our team stayed to decorate the center for our Princess Day tomorrow. We assembled the cardboard castle, as well as hung streamers, balloons, and heart and crown cutouts around the center.

We once again had amazing discussion over dinner and devotion time— we are all growing and learning through our time at the center, and we love to share our thoughts and debrief at the end of the day.
