The book of Philippians is a short letter written by the Apostle Paul from a prison in Rome to a young church in Philippi, a Roman colony.
From a place of hardship Paul encourages his fellow believers in Philippi, and us today, to keep going – to fearlessly advance the gospel and work together in the midst of their own difficulty. For Paul, it was worth it to keep fighting to maintain joy no matter what trials became him, because ultimately his communion with Jesus Christ was a firm foundation that held true in all seasons. As we work through this book, our prayer is that you’ll catch his contagious spirit of perseverance and you’ll find yourself joining this fight for joy too.
Philippians is full of relevant and helpful topics for each of us. Together we’ll explore how to face opposition to our faith, how to form encouraging friendships, how to grow in unity as a church and much more. Ultimately we pray that through this series, we’ll come back again and again to the truth that it’s worth it to know Christ, to fight to stay in communion with Him, and to keep that joy in the journey no matter what circumstances befall us.
