Abram and Sarai were barren or without children when God called them to a foreign land. In ancient times this state of bareness was the equivalent of being hopeless. So while God was calling them out of their comfort zone when they were already hopeless, what they did not know was that God was building a bridge from barrenness to blessing through their obedience. God wants to bless us, but there are things we must be willing to leave behind.
