We all know what it takes to be frustrated by personality flaws and weaknesses that perpetually hinder us.  Often times these are problems that we have inherited from our parents and their parents.  The good news of this passage is that these weaknesses don’t have to hold us down, we can have victory over them.  This victory doesn’t come through hard work and self-discipline it comes from God.  When we become a Christian God gives us a new nature, a divine nature.  Being made in God’s image we have the capacity to participate in the divine nature, a nature that overcomes sin.  Being made in the image of God means that we can conquer our sinful desires and be cloaked in God’s righteousness.
