Tanzania 2025-Strength Needed

Today was day #1 on campus. For 4/6 of us, it was such a sweet time to be reunited with the kids who attend the school, their teachers, and women who came back for the conference. We are overjoyed to be given the blessing of this reunification – it’s a cherry on top of the Sundae moment!

Ezekiel and Kezia arrived from Kenya late Sunday night and caught up with us at breakfast. They are our interpreters for the week. Ezekiel was stuck on the wrong side of a flooded river, delaying their departure – we sure are glad they made it!

Dan lead the men in manual #5, starting off with the theology of God and discussed the truth of the trinity. He went strong all the way until our delayed lunch at 3pm!

Nancy opened the women’s session with a “What is inductive Bible study mean” lesson – to give the women some tools for the week before Cindy starts in on manual #1 with them! The women also got to start on a quilting project today.

The kids were taught by Ann today and she introduced John 10:14-15 to them, explaining that we are sheep and Jesus is the Good Shepherd. Sheep are dirty, defenseless, directionless, and dumb. Did you know that they cannot even get up on their own if they fell over? In other words, dead without a shepherd. We are like that too – full of dirty sin, brainless sometimes making the wrong choices and we easily stray and get lost. Boy do we ever need a shepherd! But the best part is that to Jesus, sheep are PRICELESS. We are valued and loved so much that Jesus laid down his life for the sheep (by the end of the week, we pray our kids would understand this very powerful conclusion!)

On the way home, we could not pass a certain part of the dirt road because it had swallowed up a school bus! Ok, a bit exaggerated – we didn’t get a photo, but we did all enjoy hopping out of our Land Rover to help push the bus onto better ground (and then – God is good, we made it through no problem!)

Some of us on the team are noticing light eaters – pray that their stomachs would settle as we enter a rhythm.

Pray for strength for the team as they are teaching a lot – not just to men and women and students, but toddlers too for when the mamas need a break and want to learn from Cindy!
