Hebrews three shows us both a positive and a negative view of faithfulness. The word “faithfulness” connotes a commitment based on faith. It means continuing to make decisions based on faith, not based on what we see and hear.

Jesus  was the perfect example of faithfulness, as He continued to walk the journey before Him even to death, choosing to believe God’s promises and to trust in God’s plan.

The nation of Israel provides a negative example of this, when they voted not to enter the land that God had promised them because of fear. As a result, they wandered in the desert for forty years.

In our own lives, we will come to crisis moments when we want to turn back. We need to continue to make faithful decisions at these times. It is OK to struggle, but it is not OK to disobey. We are called to encourage one another during these difficult times.
