Cornelius was a moral man who did good things, but he did not know Christ. It is possible to be a good, moral person without being a Christian. God often speaks to people in that condition in order to draw them to Himself. This is what happened with Cornelius. When Cornelius was ready to hear and respond to the Gospel, God spoke to him and led him to Peter. Peace with God is available now to all who hear the gospel of Jesus and believe on his name.
