2018, Bay City, Short Term Missions:

Bay City 2018 – Friday!

Day two of our Bay City trip is in the books! Our blog post this evening comes to you via Kathryn Thompson. See below for her recap and reflections on the day.

God is in control. We know that but do we live by it? I know God was in control, but over the past couple of years, situations and tests have come up. In these times, all I can do is pray and trust in God.

This morning’s devotional was lead by Logan, Ethan, and Alek. The devo was about how God is in control and how it doesn’t all weigh on us.

Going on in our morning, we met up with Marco at the Cops & Doughnuts shop. There we gave away many dozens of donuts to people in Bay City. During the same time some of the students were walking up and down the streets prayer walking.

Next, we went to the Good Samaritan rescue mission and helped organize their food pantry. I really enjoyed volunteering and helping them organize the food.

The missions center is almost completely made up of volunteers. After we organized the food pantry, Marlene game us a tour of the center. It is amazing what they get in through donations and what their volunteers do. It is completely from God. God is in control.

At dinner, we got the opportunity to hear Marco’s story for church planting, and how God has trained and prepared him and his wife.

All of the stories and experiences were all part of God’s big plan.

A metaphor that I have thought of a lot was that we are the game pieces and God is the game player. HE moves and chooses according to His will.

God is in control, all you have to do is obey and follow him.

Tomorrow we will be working with Marco and several families from Radiant Church to do some grounds work – including planting four trees! – at the Elementary school where Radiant Church currently meets. After lunch, we will be returning to Cops & Doughnuts to pass out more donuts, build further upon the relationships established today, and to prayerfully seek opportunities to engage in Gospel conversations with those we encounter. We’ll cap off our day with some service work at Beacon Hope pregnancy center.

Please pray for:
1) The Holy Spirit to speak to students through our morning devotions.

2) For Christ to be at work in our hearts, transforming us into bold agents of His Kingdom.

3) For the Holy Spirit to go before us tomorrow, preparing the way for Gospel conversations.

4) For continued unity and deepening relationships among our team members.

Thanks for praying!

In Christ,

Josh Karhan
