Content Fasting

Fasting is willingly giving up, for a time, something that is perfectly good, acceptable, and enjoyable so that you can devote that time and attention to God. There are three reasons for fasting – seeking guidance and hearing from God, repentance, and presenting strong petitions to God. These lead us to the underlying reason for fasting- a closer relationship with God. When we fast we are mentally and physically oriented to have a closer relationship with God and therefore to receive answers from God to our prayers. Fasting makes prayer doubly powerful.
