Reading the Bible
Performative words are words that accomplish something by speaking them alone (like when Jesus commanded the storm to “be still”).
God’s Word is alive and active. God speaks to us through His Word today, and not only are the words true, but they are active — they accomplish God’s will.
As a result, the most important tool for our journey of faith is the Word of God. We should read it regularly and expectantly.
