When Jesus healed a woman who had bound by demonic oppression the Pharisees objected to work being done on the Sabbath. Jesus pointed out to them that they had no issue with untying their animals on the Sabbath to give them water. Jesus was saying to them “you care more about your animals than you do about people.” Unfortunately this is an attitude that still exists. So what is the biblical view of pets and animals in gender? This passage shows us that it’s good to love animals and it’s good to love but we should always love people more. All the things that we do for pets like nurturing them and cleaning up after them we should be even more willing to do for people.
