In Ephesians Paul tells us about the armor of God.  So much pieces of the armor are strictly defensive pieces, used strictly for warding off Satan.  This verse tells us about the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, correctly using the word of God we have the ability to go on the offensive in our spiritual battle.  This passage is a powerful reminder of the power of God’s encouragement and a warning never to neglect our most valuable weapon in the fight.
