The bread of the presence, with one loaf representing each of the twelve tribes of Israel, was symbolic of the fact that God is always present and that He always provides for His people. This was to be a lasting ordinance indicating that God’s provision never ends.  When we take communion, we continue to celebrate God’s ultimate provision for us. It reminds us that there is never a day or an hour or a moment when God is not available to provide for those in need.
