God is not against the individual.  He created us as individuals.  He calls us individually by name for salvation.  But his goal is not collection of individuals.  It is to create a new people, a new community of the redeemed.  So we must be careful that the blessing of being individuals can give way to the curse of individualism, where we are isolated and alone.  The cures of individualism are present in the use of money and possessions.
