Israel was in Egypt because God sent them there and blessed them there … and yet they ended up in horrible slavery. Why? Because God’s goal for us is not just that we know about Him, but that we know Him personally. And the thing that facilitates that most often is being in a position where we desperately need Him. Israel’s cry for help is heard, even though they did not cry directly to Him (because they did not know Him yet). At this point, God heard, he felt their pain and began to take action. Crying out for help starts a chain reaction that ends with us experiencing God in a deep and powerful way
