2019, West Virginia, Short Term Missions:

West Virginia 2019- Final words from students experiences

The best part of this trip is quiet time which is a time when you spend time praying and reading the Bible. During that time God told me that he would use me in powerful ways and I felt so much more closer to God then I’ve ever been. God said he sees me as a mighty warrior even though I thought I was not doing enough good to be a christian so when I heard that I was blown away. I hope I will do more for God and bring the word to hundreds.

Throughout this trip I grew spiritually and I feel closer to god than before I came on the trip. I feel like while helping in a range of things from cutting the grass to painting to passing out gift bags to the old. I feel like I grew closer to God by helping to make Keyser even just a little bit better of a place then when we came.

This week at YWAM West Virginia has truly been amazing. I’ve quickly learned Keyser is a naturally beautiful place and God has definitely shown me his beauty through the mountains and scenery. Despite all the natural beauty there are also so many broken people who don’t know Jesus and even something as simple as a joke can really impact their day and even their life. I’ve loved going out in the community and serving. Wether it was painting a wall, table or talking to kids in the playground. I’ve also loved being able to grow closer with the whole team and making so many new friends. I’m so thankful I was able to go on this trip and I pray God continues to use me and that our team was able to impact and show Jesus’s love to Keyser everywhere we went.

My week at Ywam was very fun and it was one of the best experiences of my life. We started out with a very long drive to West Virginia and the first couple days were very tiring and wondering why we were here. After that, we started having quiet times which is where you talk to God and just pray and write. Those times really helped me and encouraged me and I felt God speak to me. We started doing mission work and we would go places and help out and spread Jesus. Even though they were kinda hard and frustrating at times, it was so fun and I enjoyed playing with little kids and panting houses. One Thursday we had quiet time where Carson played guitar and sang to us and everyone felt God to speak to them and his presence was so strong. Almost everyone was crying and opening up about how we felt, it was so moving and I know God made himself known to me and let me know that He is my number one and is always there for me. We also went to the lake the last day we were here which was so beautiful and so relaxing. West Virginia was one of the most beautiful places because we stayed in the mountains and they were so beautiful and the sunsets were so pretty. It made me realize how much I am taking for granted and how beautiful Gods creation is. I came on this missions trip not really wanting to go and not really knowing my purpose here but coming back, I know that God loves me and coming on this missions trip is one of the best experiences.
