2019, West Virginia, Short Term Missions:

West Virginia 2019 – Wednesday

Wednesday has been conquered! After speaking with many students, the general consensus was that today has been the favorite day so far! Despite the heat, everyone remained so positive and happy throughout the entire day.

I can’t speak for the boys, but the girls had a much harder time waking up this morning (but of course no one wants to go to sleep when it’s actually bed time!) Once we all gathered in the YWAM building, everyone perked up and became much more energized. During breakfast we were also instructed to pack a lunch to bring to our work site for today.

We drove a few miles over to a local park in Keyser. With the mayor’s OK we re-painted all of the play equipment within the park (benches, bleachers, swing sets, picnic tables and sheds). It took a few hours and a couple coats of paint, but everyone was so upbeat and willing to help whenever it was needed. We ended the work day with popsicles and a game of leaders vs. students kickball (leaders won!)

Still covered in paint, we ended the day with free time, dinner and a time of worship. And since everyone worked so hard today, we are planning on surprising them all with some special West Virginia soft serve ice cream!
