Church Ministry Update for the Week of August 3

On August 2, Calvary Church Leadership announced to the congregation the return of positive COVID-19 test results for Pastor Jim Samra. Out of an abundance of caution, we are taking a number of steps across the church to limit interaction between staff and congregants through August 16. These changes are beneficial because of Jim’s interactions with staff and many in the congregation throughout the past two weeks. During this timeframe: All staff will be working remotely Ministry to those birth through young adults and to senior adults will be conducted virtually Meetings with non-staff will not take place on-site At this time, we are also prayerfully considering any modifications that need to be made to our on-site gathering for worship on August 9 and 16. We will be certain to inform the congregation of any adjustments taking place, in light of recent events. Our aim is to continue offering essential…

A Word for Today | June 3

With a nod to the recent lifting of Michigan’s Stay-at-Home Order our team has prayerfully made the decision to bring the “A Word for Today” series to a close. Calvary’s Director of Communications, Jackie Rice, is here to share a closing word and how God led us to this decision. We hope this encouragement to not just be listeners of God’s Word, but doers as well, will motivate you on your next steps in this season. A Word for Today | May 18

As we continue on in this pandemic, you may be noticing that there’s a spectrum of people’s response to the situation at hand. For some this all engenders a struggle with fear, while on the other end some are struggling with submission. You may find there’s even some conflict in between both ends, especially if you relate closely to someone on the opposite end from you. In this Word for Today, Pastor Jim walks through Ephesians 2 and helps us see that Jesus came to destroy what divides us because He himself is our peace. Our prayer in the midst of these conflicts is for unity and we find that unity as we focus less on the law and more on Jesus. Take note: This Thursday we’re hoping to answer some of your questions. Email us questions related to today’s video, past videos, or just about what’s going on in…

In this video we’re joined by Pastoral Resident, Rodney Velting. Rodney shares about God serving as Provider in the moments when what He’s called us to seems beyond our perceived abilities. As Rodney reflects on his time on staff at Calvary, he reminds us how God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. May this be an encouragement to you in the midst of your own moments of weakness.
